I am passionate about history, well, with three History related degrees, I should be. I have a particular fascination for Ancient Greece and Rome, as well as the European high middle ages. I find the major political and military happenings of the past interesting, in particular the lives of everyday people in different societies.
I am a prolific reader and enjoy reading about history (of course), but also like science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction and, to the horror of some, paranormal romance.
I enjoy art and often go to galleries and museums to enjoy the traveling exhibitions, or just revisit our resident collections. I enjoy attending live music concerts and gigs, some of my favourite genres are jazz, rock, metal, folk and some classical.
When at home, I love to cook and would consider myself a bit of an unpretentious 'foodie'. I do like fine dining, but also love tiny, hole-in-the wall restaurants that specialise in one dish. If I had to name my favourite cuisine, I would have to say it is French provincial, though I do also love Japanese, Mexican, Thai and Turkish.
Though in my down time I can be found knitting on the lounge whilst watching a good costume drama, British crime show, science fiction, paranormal or documentary.
